The People and Places I loved This Year
The worst thing about being a food writer or content creator is the chasing of new. New gets clicks, new gets likes, new gets shared - it makes sense, new is useful and interesting and exciting. (The other option is burger content which a thing I made at Le Burger has 300k views on IG + TikTok).
By now you’ve probably seen many of the BEST lists - my best new restaurants of 2024 list arrived in Minnesota Monthly subscribers’ mailboxes along with a cool compilation of some of my favorite bakeries in the state (bakery story is online at MinnesotaMonthly.com).
But a visit to Bayport’s Olio yesterday reminded me of the other spots in my mind… my favorites. Places I’m always happy - and I always feel taken care of. What’s the secret sauce for me? Really good food or drink is sort of the price of admission - it’s service, it’s design, it’s the soundtrack for me. FINE, it’s VIBES.
